A favorite part of my work is meeting new people and building relationships with them.  So it has been with this client.  She is so easy, so appreciative, and so open to new ideas.  A designer’s dream!

In this home, we began by refreshing the living room and dining room spaces.  First we painted the walls and added new draperies that rose to the ceiling and framed the large windows with a nice cut velvet trim.  Existing furniture was re-upholstered with fresh colors selected from the colorful antique rugs.

In the dining room, we made custom lamps for the sideboard from antique jars from the owner’s collection and re-upholstered two armchairs to bring new color in and soften the wood in the room.

The great room required new furniture so we took this opportunity to bring in lighter neutrals, contemporary lamps and functional but stylish black side tables.

The two fauteuil armchairs with blue and ivory upholstery stand tall next to this exquisite stone fireplace.  The light blue and ivory draperies with tassel fringe are exceptional and beautifully frame these main windows.

In our refresh of her keeping room and bar, we “stepped out” with great color.   Knowing this client’s style, we brought her this Thibaut wallpaper for the bar with the idea of painting all the wood a glossy coral and keeping the white marble countertop.  (Clients always like it when you tell them they can keep something!)

My exceptional wallpaper installer covered her existing tile and hung the new wallpaper right over it.  Voila!  A little glossy paint, wallpaper and instant transformation!

The keeping room was more of a challenge.  We wanted a fun look to go with the bar but it had to coordinate with the adjoining great room.  After examining many fabric options, we decided on this cheery Thibaut fabric and trim that is perfect.  It coordinates beautifully with the bar wallpaper and really gives a fresh pop to this open great room / kitchen / keeping room.

Mechanical light filtering shades lower and raise to give this client a full view of her boxwood garden during the day and privacy at night.  The best part is this utilitarian piece hides beneath the decorative valances!

Keeping the same seat cushions on the wicker sofa and chairs, we added a very special chintz fabric for decorative pillows accented with a chocolate brown tape.  The custom lamp was made from one of the client’s jars from a collection and the custom fabric lampshade brings in the green from the chintz fabric, boxwood gardens outside and the glazed garden seat.

A modern floor lamp and marble top side table complete the look adding contrast to the cottage feel of the wicker.  This is refreshing to say the least!  Let’s sit a spell!
