CHATTANOOGA DESIGNER SELECTED FOR ELITE SOUTHEASTERN SHOWHOUSE
Kathy Patton One of Two Tennessee Designer Selected For Prestigious Event, Aug. 23-31
CHATTANOOGA, July 9, 2024—Chosen as one of 15 acclaimed designers from six states--only two from Tennessee—Chattanooga’s Kathy Patton of Kathy Patton Designs has been tapped to design a room for the distinguished 27th Annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse, open to the public Aug. 23-31, 2024. Over the last quarter century, this esteemed Showhouse has become a beloved tradition drawing thousands of people to Cashiers, N.C., to tour a home with individual rooms designed by some of the nation’s top designers. Additional special events and shopping opportunities are offered in association with the 9-day event.
Selection to participate in the annual Showhouse, sponsored by Atlanta Homes & Lifestylesmagazine, is coveted by designers throughout the Southeast. Patton, a 29-year veteran of interior design, launched her firm in Macon, GA, in 1995, and moved her studio to Chattanooga in 2013.
“I have long admired the quality of the Cashiers Designer Showhouse and am honored to be selected,” Patton said. “It is a privilege to work alongside such a talented field of our country’s designers and to represent our region to a national audience.”
As part of her Showhouse design, Patton will incorporate items from treasured vendors throughout the Southeast, including two of her Chattanooga “go-to’s”: Revival home furnishings located in Warehouse Row and award-winning local artist Carylon Cooper. Other valued sources include Nashville’s The Lot, with fabrication complements of The Curtain Call, Nashville; Sherwood Antiques, Auburn, AL; ART Rugs, Christopher Collection in Birmingham; and Rock House Antiques of Greenville, SC.
In addition to selection for the Showhouse, Patton’s three decades of work in residential and commercial interiors throughout the South has received industry and media recognition, including a recent 10-page feature in Southern Home magazine (Jan/Feb 2024 issue) of a home renovation in Chattanooga’s prestigious Riverview community. Her design work includes large-acreage estates, mountain retreats, urban condos, sophisticated corporate environments, outdoor spaces, beach properties, and even a tiny home. Her local designs can be found on Lookout and Signal Mountains, Riverview, North Chattanooga, Black Creek, and Downtown.
“I consider it a privilege to tell a client’s story through innovative and comfortable design. Through careful observation and listening, I delight in elevating their look and infusing freshness and beauty that will stand the test of time,” Patton said. “When God connects my love for people with the honor of designing their space, it fills my soul--and my sketchpad--with endless creativity and gratitude that what I love doing makes a difference in people’s lives.”
Tickets to the 27th Annual Cashiers Showhouse are available online at CashiersHistoricalSociety.org. In addition to gaining inspiration and meeting the designers, the public may also purchase items they see in the showhouse and attend peripheral events including expert panels on mountain design and gardening, bourbon tastings, fly fishing expo, and high tea at historic High Hampton Inn. Proceeds from this prestigious event support the Cashiers Historical Society dedicated to education and preservation in the Cashiers, N.C. area.
