CHATTANOOGA DESIGNER SELECTED FOR ELITE SOUTHEASTERN SHOWHOUSE

“The talk of the town” is how one organizer described Kathy Patton’s premier at the prestigious Cashier’s Designer Showhouse, held annually in Cashiers, N.C. One of only two Tennessee interior designers selected to participate in this year’s event, Patton, owner of Chattanooga-based Kathy Patton Designs, said she was honored to represent Chattanooga among the elite group of 15 designers tapped from six states.

Thousands of people from throughout the southeast toured the 27 th Annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse (August 23-31) for which Patton designed an elegant bedroom / bath suite. Over the last quarter century, The Cashier’s Showhouse has become a beloved tradition drawing people from across the country to draw inspiration from individual rooms designed by some of the nation’s top designers. Proceeds from the event benefit the Cashier’s Historical Society.

“I have long admired the quality of the Cashiers Designer Showhouse and was honored to be selected,” Patton said. “It was a privilege to work alongside such a talented field of our country’s designers and to represent our local region to a national audience. Patton chuckled, “I enjoyed inviting hundreds of Showhouse attendees to visit Chattanooga. I told them the Scenic City always extends a lovely welcome mat…and a delicious glass of iced tea.”

As part of Patton’s celebrated concept for the Showhouse, she incorporated items from her favorite vendors throughout the Southeast, including two of her “go-to” Chattanooga-area sources: Revival home furnishings located in Chattanooga’s Warehouse Row and award-winning local artist Carylon Cooper. Her much-praised Showhouse design can be viewed at KathyPatton.com.

Patton is a 29-year veteran of interior design. Starting her company in Macon in 1995, she was excited to move her business to Chattanooga in 2013 when her children began attending Baylor School. Kathy’s designs are known for infusing light, freshness, elegance, and a dash of whimsy into timeless Southern design. Patton was raised in a southern family where nightly dinners were (and still are) occasions accented by pretty tablescapes, good manners, candlelight, music, and lively conversation. These roots, combined with her early success as a well-traveled corporate executive, fuel her ability to marry classic and contemporary design elements that create interest and inspiration. Now, working out of her newly redesigned studio in Chattanooga’s Black Creek area, Kathy’s team serves clients throughout the southeast. Her design work includes large-acreage estates, mountain retreats, urban condos, sophisticated corporate environments, outdoor spaces, beach properties, and even a tiny home. Her local designs can be found on Lookout and Signal Mountains, Riverview, North Chattanooga, Black Creek, and Downtown.

In addition to selection for the Showhouse, Patton’s three decades of work in residential and commercial interiors throughout the South has received a number of industry and media recognitions, including a recent 10-page feature in Southern Home magazine (Jan/Feb 2024 issue) of a home renovation in Chattanooga’s Riverview community.

“I consider it a privilege to tell a client’s story through innovative and comfortable design. Through careful observation and listening, I delight in elevating their look and infusing freshness and beauty that will stand the test of time,” Patton said. “When God connects my love for people with the honor of designing their space, it fills my soul--and my sketchpad--with endless creativity and gratitude that what I love doing makes a difference in people’s lives.”
