Summer Slipcovers
Simple yet effective ways to refresh a home’s look for the changing seasons…
With summer upon us, now is the perfect time to freshen your interiors with slipcovers. One of the best ways to achieve this is by covering heavy fabrics like velvet, chenille, and mohair with light and airy cotton and linen slipcovers.

Why Slipcovers?
Summer brings higher temperatures and bare-er legs. Heavy fabrics can make your home feel hot and uncomfortable. By changing your look with breathable materials such as cotton and linen, you not only extend the life of your upholstery, you can change your color palette and feel of a room.
What to Slipcover?
Focus on key pieces of furniture that anchor your rooms: Chairs, sofas, ottomans, and benches. Slipcovers offer a protective layer that guards against wear and tear while providing an instant style upgrade. They are a versatile and practical solution for a seasonal makeover and give your interiors a whole new look!

How to use Slipcovers…
Begin by choosing high-quality cotton or linen fabrics in colors and patterns that enhance your existing decor. There are great Performance Fabrics to choose from now that will give you the “look” while not sacrificing practicality.
You can go neutral as in the old days of all white slipcovers, or bring in fun colors and prints that feel summer-y. We recovered gold chenille club chairs in daisy yellow cotton with kelly green piping and dressed the brown club chairs across the room with a hydrangea cotton/linen print slipcover. The result is INSTANT SUMMER - a Nantucket vibe.
The key to a great slipcover is a custom fit for a polished look and dressmaker details. These can only be achieved by using a professional workroom. A designer is worth the money here - no catalog slipcovers! Ever.
For those who want a complete transformation, Kathy Patton Designs can do it. We have a client that rolls up her wool rugs for sisals and packs up her dark cocktail table for a scalloped painted table. Even lamps change out to transform her fall/winter look to the summer feel of a home on Lake Lanier. “This makes me so excited! I look forward to the week before Easter every year when we put away the dark colors and bring out the spring and summer pieces. It’s like I have a new house every six months!”
